GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) provides inspections on new and existing septic systems located in designated areas within Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts.  This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work with NBMCA sewage system staff at the Parry Sound office. You will be assisting with the daily clerical duties of the office as well as assisting the sewage system inspector in the field.

Summer Labourer
Lands and Stewardship Program

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s (NBMCA) Summer Labourer shall assist his/her supervisor during the summer maintenance program at Conservation Areas throughout the NBMCA watershed. The Summer Labourer shall participate in and promote NBMCA safety programs and should be familiar with various types of grass cutting and construction equipment, hand tools and field safety equipment. The Summer Labourer is regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, kneel and repeatedly lift objects for maintenance related tasks.  The Summer Labourer must also provide excellent customer service and possess good communication skills to work with community groups and volunteers who support the summer programs and act as an ambassador for NBMCA with members of the general public. The Summer Labourer shall assist their supervisor in completing daily inspection worksheets and identifying field hazards requiring remedy.  Individual must be self-motivated, punctual, able to work with minimal supervision and possess a positive attitude.

Stewardship Supervisor
Lands and Stewardship Program

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) fosters environmental stewardship through a variety of programs and initiatives.  NBMCA’s Integrated Watershed Management Strategy and Strategic Plan call for the development of a framework and plan for an integrated stewardship program. 

The Supervisor Stewardship will coordinate several stewardship activities in the NBMCA jurisdiction based on the Restore Your Shore program (subject to funding). Restore Your Shore is a shoreline restoration and education program which assists in the reduction of nutrients in waterways by decreasing erosion. The position also includes other collaborative stewardship initiatives with community partners. The Supervisor will foster sustainable environmentally-responsible behaviour and support NBMCA in achieving its stewardship goals.  

The Stewardship Supervisor will report to the Manager Lands & Stewardship and work closely with Field and Communications staff. The Supervisor will be self-motivated, have experience with environmental planting plans, stewardship programs and community engagement. The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, promotional, and written and oral communication skills, be comfortable working one-on-one with or making presentations to property owners and be physically fit.   Must conform to NBMCA and legislative health and safety policies.
